Addressing Weight Loss
If you are struggling with weight loss it may be a deeper issue than diet alone. It can be frustrating when diet and exercise regimens don’t seem to be cutting it.
Common reasons behind inability to lose weight (when diet and exercise aren’t enough):
- Chronic inflammation
- Hypothyroidism and thyroid function in general
- Stress (yes, stress is not just emotional but physiological as well!)
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
- Cushing’s disease
- Hormone imbalance
- Gut imbalance
- Stealth pathogens
- HPA axis dysfunction
When to look for additional support:
If you are having difficulty losing weight despite your diet and lifestyle being in shape, and/or have other symptoms such as chronic fatigue, mood changes, gut symptoms, inability to handle stress, hair loss, etc. there may be something underlining your weight concerns.
How I look at weight differently than other practitioners:
I firmly believe the body is a whole system and not just a bunch of parts that work independently. I’ve been doing this long enough to see that things aren’t always as simple as I’d like them to be. Sometimes an inability to lose weight is due to lack of good diet and proper movement, but other times there are things lurking that absolutely need to be addressed such as hormone imbalance or chronic systemic inflammation. I pull out all the stops, this may include functional labs, diet, and lifestyle modification, acupuncture or contrast hydro therapy and/or supplementation support to address the root of the problem. I’ll be able to help determine what factors may be an issue for you as an individual, and then work to address them as a team.
